Painting the Landscape in Acrylic-Lauren Everett Finn (Feb. 9)

Thursday,
February 9 12:30-4p.m.
$40/$50
We’ll explore: What sorts of things you should think about when painting the landscape, how to create depth and distance in your painting, mixing convincing greens and four things you should think about before you start your painting. Bring in your own landscape reference photo, or use one of mine.

Painting Flowers with Acrylic-Lauren Everett Finn (Feb. 24)

Friday, February 24 12:30-4 p.m.
$40/$50
Let’s get together and paint some colorful flowers to remind us that spring will eventually return! We’ll spend the afternoon immersed in blooms. Composition, color, shape and value are some of the things we’ll discuss as we build our colorful paintings. Bring in your own floral reference photo, or use one of mine. All levels welcome.

Composition & Design-Lauren Everett Finn (March 1)

Thursday, March 1
12:30-4p.m.
$40/$50
An introduction to this
powerful subject; once you learn it, your paintings WILL improve. We’ll talk about the principles and elements of design… and then try our hand at some different design compositions you might want to use for a future painting. Optional… bring in a photo that you are interested in painting and we’ll break it down into simple shapes and see if we can improve the design, or at the very least give you options to try.

Abstract Painting-Lauren Everett Finn (March 19)

Monday, March 19 12:30-4 p.m.
$40/$50
Let’s jump into the realm of abstract painting (non-representational). This class will be a lot of fun with “no risk and lots of reward” painting methods. We’ll use patterning and repetition of a motif to create expressive works of art. I’ll guide you through the process and we’ll slap, daub and dab away the afternoon. Composition, value, color and shape will be discussed as we bring our paintings
toward conclusion.

Fabric Necklace with Ribbon Closure-Marcy Grudzien (March 22)

Thursday, March 22
1-4 p.m.
$35/$45
This “bib” style necklace starts with a small crescent of fabric that ties around the neck with ribbon. Cut circles of felted sweater and men’s lined suit coats are layered with buttons, old jewelry and small pieces of broken necklace chain. Basic hand sewing attaches all trinkets to the base. Neutral or colorful-both looks are fabulous. Some buttons and fabric will be supplied but bring your own broken jewelry, buttons, ribbon and sharp scissors.

Goal-Setting for Artists: Take Your Art to the Next Level-Ellie Harold (Jan. 14)

January 14 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
$35/$45

Beginner, master -- or somewhere in between? One thing's for sure, if you don't have a sense of where you're going with your art work or why you’re going, there's a good chance you won't get anywhere you really want to be. On the other hand, nurturing a sense of purpose and creating
clear intentions allows you to take your art to new levels of meaning, fulfillment and success.

• Do you struggle to find the time to do your art?
• Do you have more ideas than you know what to do with?
• Does your artistic expression seem blocked?
• Are you interested in increasing your production or sales?
• Is there something more you want from or for your art?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, Goal-Setting for Artists is for you. Created with the specific challenges faced by artists (fine artists, writers, actors, etc.) in mind, this workshop will help you bring greater awareness and direction to your artistic life. Spend an enjoyable and safe afternoon:

• taking stock of your life as an artist
• connecting with your artistic purpose
• identifying your aspirations and how to address them
• exploring constructive ways to deal with distractions, blocks and other challenges
• clarifying your options and creating workable goals for your art in 2012

You'll leave the workshop with a set of clear and meaningful goals from which you'll be able to create your artistic life in the year ahead.
