An introduction to this
powerful subject; once you learn it, your paintings WILL improve. We’ll talk about the principles and elements of design… and then try our hand at some different design compositions you might want to use for a future painting. Optional… bring in a photo that you are interested in painting and we’ll break it down into simple shapes and see if we can improve the design, or at the very least give you options to try.

Let’s jump into the realm of abstract painting (non-representational). This class will be a lot of fun with “no risk and lots of reward” painting methods. We’ll use patterning and repetition of a motif to create expressive works of art. I’ll guide you through the process and we’ll slap, daub and dab away the afternoon. Composition, value, color and shape will be discussed as we bring our paintings
toward conclusion.

$35/$45

Beginner, master -- or somewhere in between? One thing's for sure, if you don't have a sense of where you're going with your art work or why you’re going, there's a good chance you won't get anywhere you really want to be. On the other hand, nurturing a sense of purpose and creating
clear intentions allows you to take your art to new levels of meaning, fulfillment and success.

• Do you struggle to find the time to do your art?
• Do you have more ideas than you know what to do with?
• Does your artistic expression seem blocked?
• Are you interested in increasing your production or sales?
• Is there something more you want from or for your art?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, Goal-Setting for Artists is for you. Created with the specific challenges faced by artists (fine artists, writers, actors, etc.) in mind, this workshop will help you bring greater awareness and direction to your artistic life. Spend an enjoyable and safe afternoon:

• taking stock of your life as an artist
• connecting with your artistic purpose
• identifying your aspirations and how to address them
• exploring constructive ways to deal with distractions, blocks and other challenges
• clarifying your options and creating workable goals for your art in 2012

You'll leave the workshop with a set of clear and meaningful goals from which you'll be able to create your artistic life in the year ahead.
